Overview

About AnyModelBot

AnyModelBot is a free, open-source desktop app for running your own AI bots on Windows, macOS and Linux. It is released under the MIT license, the full source is on GitHub, and there is also a Docker image for people who prefer to run it on a home server. The interface is available in English and works on any network worldwide, so you can install it and start working in a few minutes wherever you are.

The idea behind AnyModelBot is simple: an AI assistant becomes much more useful when it can actually do work on your computer, but only if you stay in control of what it does. In AnyModelBot a bot is not just a chat tab. Each bot is a persona with its own default model, its own workspace folder and its own memory. You can create as many bots as you like, for example a research bot, a writing bot and a bot that tidies your downloads folder, and each one keeps its own context separate from the others.

Every bot also gets its own permission level. Read-only bots can look but cannot change anything. Workspace bots, the default, can write only inside their own folder, and anything that crosses that boundary pauses and asks you first. Full-access bots run commands without a sandbox, but even then recursive deletes still ask for confirmation. When a bot wants to step outside what it is allowed to do on its own, it stops and shows an approval card, and the task simply waits for your answer. Computer use can be set to ask before every change to the screen, while reading what is on screen never needs approval.

AnyModelBot is not tied to a single AI vendor. You can switch between more than 70 leading models, including Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok and DeepSeek, and pick the one that suits each bot or each task. Pricing is pay-as-you-go: you pay for the tokens you use, and AnyModelBot itself has no subscription or monthly fee.

Out of the box it also works as a Super Agent. Its design follows DeepSeek's Super Agent prototype, so background tasks, scheduled rules and a "needs you" inbox are built in with no extra setup. You can hand a bot a longer job, let it run in the background, set rules that trigger on a schedule, and come back to a single inbox that lists only the things that actually need your decision.

Your conversations, memory, files and keys stay on your own device. Prompts, file contents and tool results that a model needs to answer are sent to the model vendor you chose, and the project is open about that rather than claiming absolute privacy. Which features work depends on the model, operating system and permissions you grant, and computer use on macOS is still labelled Beta.

AnyModelBot is a young project at version 0.1.x, and we are building it in the open. If you want a capable AI assistant that runs on your own machine, lets you choose any leading model and never acts beyond the limits you set, we would love for you to try it and tell us what to improve.
