Overview

About ShareOtter

Every freelancer, agency, and team has hit the same wall: you finish a piece of work, and the only way to share it is a download link that dumps a raw file onto someone's desktop. The recipient has to find the right software, wait for it to load, and hope nothing renders wrong along the way. ShareOtter exists to remove that entire step. Instead of handing someone a file, you hand them a page — polished, interactive, and ready to view the moment they click.

The core idea is simple: drop in a file or an entire folder, and ShareOtter turns it into a shareable link in under 60 seconds. There's no app to install on the viewer's end and no "please download to view" message standing between your work and your audience. PDFs, presentations, spreadsheets, videos, e-books, images, audio, zipped HTML sites, and even code files all open natively in the browser, rendered the way they were designed to look. ShareOtter supports an enormous and growing list of formats — well beyond the usual handful most sharing tools bother with — so it's rare that you'll find something it can't handle.

Control is built in rather than bolted on. Depending on what a file needs, you can share it publicly with anyone who has the link, lock it behind a password, gate it by email address, or restrict access to a specific allowlist of approved viewers. That flexibility matters for anything client-facing — a proposal that should stay private, a portfolio piece that can go out wide, or an internal document that only a handful of people should ever see.

For people working beyond solo projects, ShareOtter organizes files into Spaces and Projects, giving teams a real home for shared work instead of a pile of links in old email threads. You can invite clients into a space, assign roles, and manage approvals in one place — useful for agencies juggling multiple clients or teams collaborating with outside stakeholders who shouldn't have full internal access.

Two features currently in development point at where ShareOtter is heading next. Real-time analytics will show who viewed a file, how long they spent with it, and where they're from, with notifications the moment someone opens a link — handy for knowing whether a proposal actually got read before a follow-up call. Version history will let you upload a new version of a file without changing its link, so anyone with the old URL automatically sees the latest version rather than an outdated one.

All of this is wrapped around a straightforward promise: your files deserve better than a download button. ShareOtter is aimed squarely at people who share work professionally — freelancers sending deliverables, agencies presenting client assets, and teams that need their output to look as good as the work itself. There's a free plan with no credit card required, so getting your first file up as a real, viewable page takes about as long as it would have taken to just send the file the old way — except this time, it actually looks the way it's supposed to.
