About Aventail

Aventail, formerly Locai, helps organisations use AI with sensitive data while controlling which models process requests and where processing happens. It is intended for teams whose AI use cases require control over data processing and deployment destinations. The platform brings model execution, device management, routing policies and user workflows into one product family.

Aventail Link runs supported AI models on your devices. Teams should check the documentation and model compatibility before choosing hardware or planning a deployment. Desktop downloads are available for macOS on Apple silicon, Windows x64 and Linux x64. Support for an operating system does not mean every model runs on every machine: compatibility and resource requirements vary.

Aventail Control manages devices, models and routing policies. Organisations can define approved destinations and fallback paths for inference requests. This lets a team decide where a request may be processed and how an alternative route should be used when the preferred destination is unavailable or unsuitable. The routing guide explains the configuration and should be consulted before making assumptions about a particular deployment.

External AI providers can be used where policy allows. Requests routed to those providers leave the device. Aventail therefore gives organisations control over their permitted processing destinations; a deployment should be assessed against its actual configuration and the organisation's own requirements. Teams handling sensitive work should review their approved routes and fallback behaviour as part of setup.

Aventail Workspace provides chat and document workflows. Link, Control and Workspace address different parts of adopting AI: running supported models, managing deployment and routing, and giving people a place to use AI in their work. The official documentation contains guidance for getting started with these components.

The Free plan supports both personal and business use without a time limit. It includes 3 connected devices, 5 GB of registry storage, 10 GB of monthly outbound transfer, unlimited local storage and community support. Starter is £50 per month excluding VAT and includes 10 connected devices, 50 GB of registry storage, 100 GB of monthly outbound transfer and email support. Additional usage is charged separately. A 30-day Starter trial is available; current plan details and allowances are published on the Aventail website.

A practical starting point is a small deployment: check supported hardware and model requirements, follow the quick-start guide, connect the intended devices and review the permitted routes before wider use. The documentation is the source for setup and configuration details, and the pricing page is the source for current commercial terms.
